The Beginnings of a Mermaid March 19, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — velvetstars @ 10:53 pm

I was at Gemorama this morning for their beading breakfast.  I’d forgotten something I needed to work on the project I brought with me.  While playing with my wire, I started to make a mermaid.  This is just a prototype, and she’s certainly not finished, but this is how she looks so far.  I’m looking forward to seeing where this brings me. :-)

Thank you for the inspiration Susan! March 12, 2012

Had a rough weekend and wasn’t feeling all that inspired. Today, I met up with my friend Susan after an appointment. We had a great chat that got us both feeling creative again. Afterwards, she unexpectedly brought me to a gem and crystal shop. It was fantastic! Stacey (the owner) is so nice. I bought a couple of cabochons. I couldn’t wait to get home and play with them! I made a pendant with one. Not sure how I’m going to use the other one yet…thinking about turning it into a ring.

I’m so excited that Windemere in Plymouth is now selling some of my jewelry!  It’s a fantastic boutique with unique handmade items.  I’ve bought many special gifts in this independent shop over the years and am proud to have my work there. :-)

Celtic Chainmaille Weave March 5, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — velvetstars @ 11:21 pm

Getting ready for St. Patrick’s day, here’s a chainmaille weave with a Celtic flair. I have made these into bracelets and necklaces in the past, but this one will become a pair of earrings that I will likely add peridot beads to. I’ve also attached a picture of a delicate little wire-wrapped ring that I made.

Nostalgia March 4, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — velvetstars @ 8:59 pm

I’ve been O.D.-ing on nostalgia this weekend and watching all things Monkees. I’m a huge fan of Davy Jones and was sad to hear of his passing. That being said, I haven’t done as much work as I’d hoped so I’ve attached some photos of work that I’d been doing when I was not actively updating my blog. Later tonight, I will work on a chainmaille piece.

Fun Day Filled with Inspiration March 2, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — velvetstars @ 12:59 am

Had a great day with friends making and sharing art.  Came home inspired and worked on a couple of journal pages.  I’ve posted a picture of one of the pages and of a beautiful torso that my friend has in her studio…along with our ATCs.

Worked on some ATC cards today. I haven’t made ATCs in such a long time. It was so much fun doing these. Looking forward to our swap on Thursday! :-)   Thank you Susan for all of your inspiration and supplies today!  I love these Punch stamps so much!

I’m back February 27, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — velvetstars @ 11:53 pm

It’s been 2 years since I’ve posted, but I’m happy to be back here.  I’ve got a working computer and lots of inspiration. Here’s a couple of things I’ve been working on. I’ve been so inspired by the beautiful rocks on the beaches where I live. I’ve been making loads of pendants with them. Last night, a friend came over and I taught her how to make rings. It inspired me to take some of these pebbles and turn them into rings. I made a few tonight. They need some work, but I’ll get there. I’m loving the process!
